FilePrint

A plugin for Obsidian

FilePrint

Visual fingerprints and sound
for your notes.

Generated from your nested tags. Notes with shared tag roots share parts of their pattern and sound.

Try your own tag

The same generators as the plugin. Runs locally.

Mycelium networks

Fungal networks connect roots and move nutrients through the forest floor.

Try:

Change the tag to compare patterns and sound. Nothing is saved or uploaded.

How it works

Add a nested tag such as #learning/science/physics to a note. Open FilePrint: Open fingerprint from the command palette, or use the ribbon icon.

FilePrint follows the note you open. The selected tag controls the sound and visual family; the note’s title, path, and supported metadata also affect visual details.

To show a fingerprint inside a note, insert a fileprint code block. Press Play sound to start a loop. Audio never plays automatically.

Runs on your device

The plugin generates visuals and audio locally. No account, API keys, telemetry, or runtime network requests. It does not scan your whole vault or create generated files.

FilePrint is free and available under the MIT license.
